One time I was going to the isle to get what I needed and one of the main watchers asked me if I needed help and I said "no but thanks". About 3 minutes later I noticed that he was standing at the end of the isle watching me so I turned and stared back and we just stood there looking at each other for almost 1 minute.
Soooo many times I have been to this store and I clearly know what I'm looking for and where it is located and I know the routine for picking out screws,nuts & bolts....yet still they think it is necessary to stand close by me and watch me.
You have to ask for Mike! I do a lot of custom work on my bike & he knows where EVERYTHING is! Plus he really takes the time to make sure you get it! Very patient person unlike some of the others that act like they give a Crap! WTG Mike!!! The "Tall Guy with the baseball cap!"
I asked him if I could help him but he turns and walks away then I preceed to go to another isle and get some thread lock and right as I get to the end of the isle some other pregnant looking fella is jogging away from the guy that was first watching me and coming towards me all wide eyed and looking me up and down! He stammered over the words "can I help you?" so I just look at the stuff in my hands and say out loud to myself "these people think that I gonna steal some bolts & thread lock?" I walked around him and went to the check out. Some 3rd guy joined the "watch me" party so I watched them the whole time I paid for my stuff and as I was walking out.
After using a $5.00 off of $20 purchase card twice in the past two months for bagged top soil, I tried to use one today, 02/24/17. I was told I could not use this card that was mailed to me as a ACE Rewards member. Why, suddenly, I cannot use this card for a purpose I have used it before? I have torn up this $5.00 reward mailing and thrown away my ACE Rewards card. I will not shop at ACE Hardware again.
I go here all the time, it's near my house. I like that it is a small store with lots of stuff, not a huge warehouse with no one to help you. They are always helpful and friendly, and it's amazing how much stuff they fit in this place. At least 70% of the fasteners in my 79 Corvette restomod came from this store. Highly recommended!
I wouldn't go as far as saying friendly store. I spent almost 100.00 worth of merchandise yes i undetstood they had technically been closed for about 3 min but the cashier was ringing my things up. And i bought something that cost 32.00 bolt cutters so i could cut the lock off my shed cuz i misplaced the key. And i asked them cause they only had the biggest i mean huge bolt cutters wasnt sure until i got home if it would even fit around my latch to get to bolt and i was sniptly told those are a no return policy...im like why? If they don't work for my purpose why should i be forced to keep them. His response" people buy then for one reason and that's it and bring right back for refund" almost in a way like i was going to use them for something bad (whatever that could be) and then want my money back. But i don't think it should be legal if i brung back an un used item with receipt and cannot get a refund.
